Have you considered that one of the reasons that we put weight as we age is because WE ARE ALSO NOT MOVING AS MUCH AS WE MOVED BEFORE?
We are not as active as we were and we spend more time sitting in front of the computer, at the couch, in the car.
This is a thing and there is a name for this: NEAT- Non exercise activity thermogenesis, the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise. It ranges from the energy expended walking around, cleaning the house, carrying bags, typing, gardening, washing the car, running around with the kids, etc. (Healthline)
This all counts on our expenditure of calories a day.
Once I realised about this, I started to take every opportunity of movement that came on my way. I even left the trolley at the shops and walk towards the car carrying my shopping bags to add some weight to my walking.
HERE IS MY 4 SIMPLE TIPS TO MOVE MORE YOUR BODY:
Step counter- Goal – 10.000 steps a day. This is a game changer. Use a watch or an app on your phone. If it is 5pm and I didn’t achieve my goal I get myself out of the house and walk around the block.
Every time that you make a phone call stand up and speak while you are walking around.
When catching up with friends go for a walk instead of a seated coffee.
Leave the car as much as you can and go walking or bike riding
CHOOSE TO MOVE ALWAYS AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED HOW THIS CAN IMPACT POSITIVELY YOUR BODY
